Dr. Tjarks was one of the original founders of Dubuque Dental Associates,which opened in 1969. After graduating from the University of Iowa Dental College, Dr. Tjarks served two years in the Army as a dentist. During his time in Viet Nam he decided that he wanted to return to Dubuque to practice dentistry and joined with a partner to begin his practice.

Dr. Tjarks is a member of the Dubuque District Dental Association, having served the offices of the organization; the Iowa Dental Association also having served as Trustee and the offices, and currently serves as the Speaker of the House; the American Dental Association; the Academy of General Dentistry; the American Equilibration Society and the Pierre Fauchard Society. Through the

Iowa Dental Association he has received his Life Membership, Service and Special Recognition Awards. Dr. Tjarks has spent countless hours participating in contuning education courses and seminars which inevitably show in his meticulous work.

Besides being a family man with his wife Cam, three children and one granddaughter, he has been active in the community through his church, Albrecht Acres Camp for the mentally and physically challenged persons, the Westside Business Association as one of its founders and continuing members and has supported the sports of skydiving, flying and boating. He is forever a do-it-yourselfer at home and at the office.

Dr. Brett Kilburg

Dr. Brett Kilburg is a native of Epworth, Iowa. He completed both his undergraduate degree and his DDS degree from the University of Iowa. Before joining the team at Dubuque Dental Associates, he practiced for two years at Anamosa Dental Associates after graduation in 2003. Dr. Kilburg is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association and the Dubuque Dental Society.

Volunteering as a coach for the Western Dubuque Bobcats' football team (forever a fan) occupies Dr. Kilburg's time in the fall. He is an avid lover of all other sports as well (Go Hawkeyes!) while additional activities include cooking and singing.

Dr. Melanie Stuntz

Dr. Melanie Stuntz graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2006. Growing up in eastern Iowa, Dr. Stuntz was excited to return to the area to practice. She joined Dubuque Dental Associates in the summer of 2006. Dr. Stuntz is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association and the Dubuque Dental Society. Dubuque Dental would like to offer our congratulations to Dr. Stuntz and her husband, Dr. Stuntz, on the arrival of their beautiful baby son.
